TIME LINE OF KEY EVENTS - HACIENDA BOULEVARD

November1984

City of La Habra Heights approached the State about availability of funds for realigning Hacienda Boulevard to eliminate two sharp curves at the northern and southern portions of the road.

 

February 1985

City of La Habra Heights presented proposal to Los Angeles County Transportation Commission (LACTC) to eliminate curved portion of road from West Road to the Orange County boundary. LACTC approved $458,000 in Regional Federal and Urban funds.

 

February 1986

City of La Habra Heights and Public Works approached LACTC for additional funds to improve Hacienda Boulevard LACTC increased project amount to $900,000. State required study be done to see if Hacienda Boulevard could be built to State standards Public Works assumed the lead on project with the understanding the City would be approving the alignment and cross section for project.

 

December 1987

Preliminary Alignment Study prepared by Willdan and Associates recommended 80 feet of right of way with two traffic lanes in each direction at a total cost of $20.5 million.

 

July 1990

Public Works obtained State approval to utilize grant funds for performing the preliminary engineering and environmental assessment for entire length.

 

September 1990

Public Works began developing concepts for various alignment proposals.

 

March 1993

Public Works applied for State flexible Congestion Relief funds through the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Call for Projects. Funding denied.

 

March1994

Public Works applied for Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) funds. Funding denied.

 

October 1995

Public Works made a presentation to the City Council outlining the various proposals. Information regarding proposals left in Council Chambers for public review and comment.

 

May1996

La Habra Heights City Council approved Public Works alternate C proposal. City Council requested alignment modification at Avocado Crest Road.

 

January 1999

Public Works submitted application in the 1999 MTA Call for Projects to receive funding to improve Hacienda Boulevard. Application requested funds for Alternate B2.

 

July1999

MTA notified Public Works that Hacienda Boulevard received $4.5 million in grant funds to improve Hacienda Boulevard from East Road to the Orange CQunty boundary.

 

 

January 2000

Public Works proposes to transfer project and grant funds to the City of La Habra Heights.
